The North Cumberland Wildlife Management Area consists of 145,000 acres in four Tennessee counties. Outside the Cherokee National Forest, it is the largest continuous piece of public property in the state. The WMA is home to the second-largest free-ranging elk herd east of the Mississippi River and numerous other wildlife, including whitetail deer, wild turkey, wild boar and black bear.
Much of the North Cumberland WMA is ATV-friendly, with hundreds of miles of trails for off-highway vehicles. A valid permit from the State of Tennessee is necessary to ride on the WMA.
