The Museum of Scott County is a complex that covers over three acres of ground. It is unique in the fact that it is the only museum in the nation that is designed, built, and curated by high school students. Anthropology students uncover artifacts and bring life to past historical events. History and science students design exhibits relevant to their curriculum as it pertains to the Museum of Scott County. Drama students dress in character and take elementary pupils back in time as they act out the role of inhabitants of Scott County. English classes publish folk tales and anecdotal stories of the people of Scott County.
Contained in the complex is a history museum, WWII memorial museum, children's museum, and a frontier village. The museum is open six days a week, and admission is free.
Last Saturday of September: Each year, the Museum of Scott County and Scott High School host the Appalachian Heritage Festival on the last Saturday of September.
